I am a freelance journalist and instructor. I have been involved in African and Middle East affairs since 2010, but my main focus is on East Africa as well as the Horn of Africa. The inner circle of the regimes in these regions and their relationship to other political parties and external stakeholders, conflict resolution and state-building, and regional armed groups and movements belong to my main sphere of interest.

I work for German and international media outlets, for instance, The Guardian, Deutsche Welle DW, Zenith, Inamo, etc. I used to live in Khartoum (Sudan) and southern France and travel to Africa and the Middle East on a regular basis while working and living in Germany.

Beside my journalistic work, I am an instructor and advisor as well. I edit the country informational portal on South Sudan and teach about Sudan, South Sudan and Somalia at the Academy for International Cooperation GIZ. Furthermore, I am also a tutor at the University of Cologne.
